Kvelertak’s debut album came out ten years ago, striking us like lighting – hurled by Thor himself – out of a clear sky. Someone in Norway finally remembered the rock’n’roll and punk roots of extreme metal! Little wonder that reviewers praised it, fans broke legs in front of the stage, and such headliners as Metallica or Ghost invited them to tour together. The album “Splid” was released before the outbreak of the pandemic – it is the first record with Ivar Nikolais as a vocalist and Håvard Takle Ohr on drums, but as a live act, the band is still the same omnivorous beast – they proved that recently with one of the best online shows during the lockdown. One shudders to think what they will do, once they are let loose.
