What would a temple be without priests? This year at Shrine Stage, wicked rites and unholy rituals will be performed by, among others, Decapitated, Imperial Triumphant, Azarath, Gaerea, Brutus, GGGOLDDD and Okkultokrati. No people or animals will be harmed, but after you’ve witnessed all the shows there, you’ll leave with a permanent mark on your soul.
We know you have fine memories of Shrine Stage from 2019. There, your mind was shattered by Immolation, Powertrip and Possessed, and whatever was left, got annihilated by Crowbar. At Mystic Festival 2022, Shrine Stage will not host the greatest bands of the metal genre, but it will heed to the most interesting and extreme essence of what this music constitutes today.
Shrine Stage invites all pilgrims on Wednesday, June 1st. In Poland, we’re celebrating Children’s Day then, but that stage is only for adults. Decapitated, Polish death-machine will obliterate everything in its sight, Gaerea will suck you straight into the abyss of hell, and Spectral Wound will devour all the souls that weren’t really there. Skeletal Remains will cleave flesh from bone, and Link will finish the job, by showing you the best traditions of the Swedish scene.
Thursday, 2nd June, Shrine Stage will be dominated by the female element, manifest in fundamentally different music projects: Brutus, clashing their hardcore rage with postrock reach, GGGOLDDD with their dark, but emotional postmetal touch, (Dolch) with their ethereal dedication to darkness, gothic-punk Maggot Heart and Ovo, wallowing in dirt and noise.
Friday, 3rd June, Shrine Stage will be sieged by Azarath – they headline, because after their show, the stage will be in rumble. Before the creators of “Saint Desecration”, the stage will be attacked by: black/punk Okkultokrati, Raging Speedhorn, who mash hardcore with sludge, Proscription, mixing black and death in typical Finnish way, and Tester Gier, who with their oldschool thrash bring endless chaos to music.
Saturday at Shrine Stage will bring the final darkness. We guarantee you won’t forget what the extreme priests of Imperial Triumphant will serve you. Then you’ll feel the metal whip of Medico Peste and Wiegedood. Truchło Strzygi and Beast will take you on a sentimental journey – with the former, you’ll visit black/thrash mazes, with the latter, you’ll explore the might of Scandinavian death metal scene.
As we’re getting ready for Mystic Festival, the greatest celebration of metal in this part of Europe, we’re looking to the East – to Ukraine, fighting for its freedom against the brutal invader. We want to help, and we encourage you to help, by supporting Polish Humanitarian Action. Visit their “SOS for Ukraine” website here: https://www.pah.org.pl/sos-ukraina/
